Application Deadlines
We recommend applying as soon as possible as popular courses fill up quickly. Applications for September courses typically open in the October the year before (e.g. courses starting in September 2027, applications will open in October 2026). January courses typically open in the November/December the year before you are due to start studying (e.g. for a course starting in January 2027, applications will open in November 2026).

What you'll need to apply
Before you start your application, make sure you have the following information ready:
- Valid email address
- Contact details (phone number and address)
- Educational history (schools/colleges attended, qualifications achieved or working towards)
- Your chosen course
- Personal statement or reason for applying (some courses)
- Emergency contact details
Note: You don't need to pay anything when you apply. Some courses may require additional information such as a portfolio, audition or specific qualifications - check your course details for specific requirements.
How to apply
Step 1 - Find and choose your course
Browse our course finder to explore the full range of courses available. You can search by subject area, career interest, or qualification level.

Step 2 - Apply online
Once you've found your perfect course, click the 'Apply Now' button on the course page. You'll be directed to our Apply Portal.
The online application form will ask for:
- Your personal details
- Educational history and qualifications
- Course choice(s)
- Why you want to study this course
- Emergency contact information
The application typically takes 10-15 minutes to complete. You can save your progress and return to it later if needed.
After you submit:
We'll send you confirmation within 48 hours that we've received your application. If you haven't heard from us after 7 days, please get in touch on 03333 222 444.
Step 3 - Interview and assessment
After we receive your application, we'll invite you to meet with our tutors. This is usually at the campus where you've applied to study, though some interviews may be conducted virtually.
What to expect:
- A chat about your career goals and future plans
- Discussion about the course content and what to expect
- Questions about your interests and motivation
- Some courses may require an audition or portfolio review.
Skills assessment:
After your interview, we may ask you to take short assessments in maths, English and ICT. These are quick, computer-based quizzes that help us understand your current skill levels and ensure you have the right support. There's nothing to worry about - you'll get full instructions and plenty of time.
Step 4 - Receiving your offer
Once we agree that the course you've chosen is the right one for you, we'll send you an offer.
For school leavers (16-18):
You'll receive a conditional offer, which means you've got a place on the course if you achieve the grades we've asked for.
For adult learners (19+):
You'll receive confirmation of your place and details about your next steps, including enrolment information and any fees.
All offers are subject to capacity, meeting entry requirements and our admissions policy.
Changed your mind?
After meeting with our tutors, you may decide a different course would suit you better. That's not a problem - we'll work with you to find the right course for your goals.
Step 5 - Enrol on your course
Once you've received and accepted your offer, it's time to enrol. You'll receive an email with detailed instructions on how to complete your enrolment through the Apply Portal.
The enrolment process includes:
- Confirming your details are up to date
- Uploading required documents
- Booking an enrolment appointment
- Signing your Learner Agreement
- Getting your student ID card.

How long does the application take to complete?
The online application form typically takes 10-15 minutes to complete. You can save your progress and return to it later if you need more time.
Make sure you have all the information you need before you start (see 'What you'll need to apply' above) to make the process as smooth as possible.
When will I hear back about my application?
We aim to respond within 48 hours to confirm we've received your application.
After your interview and any assessments, we'll let you know our decision as quickly as possible. You'll receive updates via email and through the Apply Portal.

What if I don't meet the entry requirements?
Don't worry - we're here to help you find the right course for your current level. If you don't meet the entry requirements for your chosen course, we'll discuss alternative options with you.
This might include:
- A foundation year or entry-level course in the same subject
- A different qualification level that matches your current skills
- Additional support to help you meet the requirements.

Can I apply for multiple courses?
Yes, you can apply for more than one course. However, we recommend focusing on your top choice and discussing alternatives with our team during your interview if needed.

Can I apply if I'm an international student?
We are no longer in a position to enrol any new international students due to our current home office status as a legacy sponsor. We apologise that we are currently unable to proceed with any new applications.
Exception: if you are from a British Overseas Territories and your passport states British Citizen, you can apply in the normal way.
You are a 'British Overseas Territories' national if you are a national of any of these territories:
- Anguilla
- Bermuda
- British Antarctic Territory
- British Indian Ocean Territory
- British Virgin Islands
- Cayman Islands
- Falkland Islands
- Gibraltar
- Montserrat
- Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno Islands
- South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands
- St Helena and Dependencies (Ascension Island and Tristan de Cunha)
- Turks and Caicos Islands

Can I change my course after applying?
Yes, you can change your course choice. If you change your mind before your interview, contact us on 03333 222 444 and we can update your application.
During or after your interview, if we agree that a different course would be better suited to your goals and abilities, we'll help you transfer your application. Our priority is making sure you're on the right course for your future success.
Do I need to pay when I apply?
No, there is no fee to apply to The Manchester College.
For school leavers (16-18): you won't pay any course fees or exam costs.
For adult learners (19+): some tuition and exam fees may apply depending on your circumstances. Fees are discussed and paid at the point of enrolment. Many funding options are available including full funding, Advanced Learner Loans and the Access to Industry Award.

I'm a continuing student - do I need to apply again?
If you're a current student progressing to another course with us, the process is slightly different. You'll complete a progression interview and then follow specific re-enrolment steps.
