Construction and the Built Environment

This is an engaging programme aimed at students who are looking for a challenging career in the Construction, Architecture or Civil Engineering industry. This is a full-time course (two evenings a week) which runs for one year.

The course contains two units which are externally assessed - Construction Principles and Construction Design. Two additional units are Health and Safety in construction and Construction technology.

The course is delivered through a blend of lectures, seminars, tutorials, independent study and guest speakers. The course is assessed through external examinations, assignments and practical tasks. Each subject is awarded a Pass, Merit or Distinction and the combined marks produce the final overall grade of Pass, Merit or Distinction for the course as a whole.

The course runs over 2 evenings for 6 hours per week for 34 weeks and will take one year.

For learners who have recently been in education the entry requirements are as follows: Four GCSEs at grade C or above (including Maths & English, or BTEC First Diploma in Construction, or NVQ Level 3 Qualification
