This course is for 16-18-year-old students with an interest in engineering, welding, sheet metal work or hand fitting skills.
This programme covers the fundamental skills and knowledge common to all engineering practices, and on practical skills, where learners will gain experience and understanding of Engineering drawing and the Engineering Design Process.
Work experience to be undertaken - 35 hours

Work Experience is a vital part of the course and you will be supported in finding a work placement relevant to your study.
You will be assessed by a multiple-choice online exam.
For other units learners will produce practical test pieces which will be assessed by the lecturer. There will also be a short paper-based exam for each unit.
Upon successful completion of this qualification, learners can progress to Level 2 Engineering
