City Campus Manchester
(Full Time - 11 weeks)
This course is aimed at learners looking for their first move into a management role, or in an existing team and wanting to learn to lead, organise, and motivate a team effectively. It is ideal for new junior managers or supervisors.
The course will run for 4 hours a week over an 8 week period.
You will need to possess a minimum of a level 1 qualification in English and maths.
Experience of leading a team would be desirable but not essential. You are not required to be a manager at time of enrolment as long as you have an aspiration of becoming one.
You will be assessed through completion of three or four assignments that will cover the following topics;
- Communication, with units that cover getting your message across and how to brief a team
- Working with people, including helping your team improve
- Providing direction and leadership, such as how to self-manage and develop as a team leader
- Essential competencies and getting results, from problem-solving to planning and monitoring workloads
You will be able to progress to ILM L3 or even L5 depending upon where your management career progresses to in the workplace, and your English and maths qualifications at the time of enrolment.
As management skills are key attributes to possess in all working environments, they are very transferable into other subject sectors.
