Future Creatives 2020

The City is our Canvas

Students get creative with the future of our city.

Art and Design students at The Manchester College have been working in partnership with The Manchester Art Gallery on a series of fly posters which will be plastered around the city centre.

The Future Creatives exhibition, entitled ‘The City is our Canvas’, aims to explore the role art and culture plays in shaping and changing Manchester through a personal interpretation from the students.

In total, 200 of College’s students responded to the live brief and 26 have been chosen to work with Jack Arts and designer Craig Oldham during the project’s final stages.

The final collection will be exhibited on Wednesday 4 March at Manchester Art Gallery with the 26 fly posters also available for sale in the gallery gift shop at £4.50 each.

Members of the public will have up to two weeks to capture snaps of the students work around Chapel Street, Princess Street, Deansgate and Farfield Street in the city centre, as well as in Fallowfield, South Manchester.

To share the work on social media, use the hashtag #futurecreatives2020 and tag The Manchester College and Manchester Art Gallery.
