Leading director holds audition workshop with students

Musical Theatre and Acting students at the college’s Shena Simon campus took part in an audition workshop with actor, director and teacher Yusuf Khamisa from the prestigious Arts Educational Drama School (Arts Ed.) in London.

Yusuf, who has worked himself in film, TV and theatre and directed at the National Theatre, praised the college’s “enthusiastic and focused students”.

The HNC Performing Arts and Level 3 Acting students attended two separate workshops led by Yusuf, which included a Q&A session about the Arts Ed. courses and practical audition advice where Yusuf worked with the students on their audition monologues to assist them in getting prepared for their up-coming drama school auditions.

Yusuf, who has worked himself in film, TV and theatre and directed at the National Theatre, praised the college’s “enthusiastic and focused students”.

Assistant Principal for Creative Arts at The Manchester College, Neil G. Bennett, said:

It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to be inspired and directed by Yusuf. I taught him as a student and I am thrilled that he has made such a brilliant reputation for himself in the business. It is amazing to see our students being taught by him and we hope our links with Arts Ed. continue to grow.

Arts Ed. boasts an impressive alumni including Strictly finalist Danny Mac, Martin Clunes and the musical theatre legend Julie Andrews.
