Musical Theatre students meet top TV producer Maisie Maguire

Musical Theatre students at The Manchester College recently took part in an exciting workshop with a top TV industry professional.

Maisie Maguire is currently the Executive Producer of The Voice, having previously worked on shows such as I’m a Celebrity! Get Me Out of Here, The Xtra Factor and Total Wipeout.

Maisie was invited to College by Achievement Tutor Louise Ince, as part of ScreenSkills Creative Careers Week. 

She spoke to the students about auditions, how they can make their auditions unique and techniques that stars such as Tom Jones, Olly Murs and Will.I.Am use on The Voice. She also went into great detail on the varying career opportunities that are on offer in the TV industry.

Annabel Hall, a Level 3 Musical Theatre student, said:

This talk opened my eyes to an array of opportunities for me to potentially explore that I didn’t know existed and were possible.

"It showed me various career paths that I would definitely consider in the future. I thoroughly enjoyed the talk and the information I gained from it is extremely valuable!”
