Schools liaison officer at The Manchester College

Who We Are

At The Manchester College, we have a highly experienced and dedicated School Liaison Team that work in partnership with schools, sixth forms, academies, IAG providers and other services to encourage and inform young people all around Greater Manchester and beyond about their future education and career opportunities.

We’re extremely passionate about delivering our extensive service to any students in years 8 through to year 13. We’ve been working together for a number of years now, bringing high-quality impartial advice and guidance to the Greater Manchester area, through our work with a wide cohort of schools, sixth forms and other organisations across the region.

Find out below what makes our team unique.

We are the largest School Liaison Team in Greater Manchester, with access to a wide range of resources. Our team members come from a diverse range of backgrounds, which means we each have something unique to offer in our advice and guidance. Within our team, we have experience in the fields of education, business, marketing, social science, sports, hair and beauty, childcare and performing arts!

Each member of our team has a minimum of a level 3 qualification in Advice and Guidance, or they are working towards obtaining it. Together we’re an award-winning team, with expert knowledge of further education, T Levels, higher education and apprenticeships, which are offered through the College and our partner organisations UCEN Manchester and Total People.

Having secured Matrix accreditation, we are able to offer high quality impartial advice and guidance where appropriate, to any pupil considering their future options.

We’re fully committed to helping every pupil succeed, and this is why each school and sixth form we work with has their own dedicated School Liaison co-ordinator who works closely with schools and their pupils to support them with their choices and post-16 or 18 options.

We are experts in the field of further education and offer innovative solutions to ensure young people receive the most beneficial advice about their education and career opportunities in the most creative ways possible.

We are always developing new and imaginative ways to support young people and provide them with invaluable information. This is achieved through our delivery of workshops, classroom sessions and many other events. We are happy to modify our sessions, or even create brand new bespoke sessions just for your school or sixth form. These bespoke sessions can be focused on employability, post-16 options, HE, apprenticeships or specific subjects. Our highly engaging and informative sessions can be delivered ‘live’ in school or virtually, we also have a range of pre-recorded sessions available upon request. If you have an idea of an event you would like us to deliver, please contact us.

We can also run pre-applicant campus visits tailored towards your pupils' needs to give them a real insight into what life is like at college or what it would be like to study their chosen study programme.

We are happy to work with any school or sixth form in the region in any capacity. We are always pleased to build relationships with new schools and sixth forms, as well as maintaining and building upon our current ones. We like to keep our schools and sixth forms up to date with the exciting work of the Liaison Team, through our fortnightly bulletin.

The relationships we build with local schools are very important to us. Below are some comments from school staff and how we have worked with them:

"We have an excellent relationship with the School Liaison Team at The Manchester College. They understand the pressures that our students face when it comes to choosing a college and course and ensuring a successful transition so they do everything they can to make this process as easy as possible, from delivering college drop-in sessions and attending parents' evenings at school to offering taster days and bespoke visits to the college campuses. They respond quickly when requests are made for prospectuses, visits and application information, and always in a warm, friendly, professional manner. It has been a pleasure to work with the School Liaison Team at the Manchester College this year, and I look forward to more of the same next year!"
