Student Council
Student Council
Do you want to have you say about the way The Manchester College is run? If you’re passionate about making a difference and want to have a real impact on what happens at the college, this is the place to do it.
You’ll run for election, and if successful, you’ll get to represent the views of fellow classmates in your subject area. You’ll be the voice of the students, helping us to make sure we’re doing the right things for you. When you join the student council, you’ll be at the heart of our college, shaping our values, and guiding our community in a successful direction.
Understanding what we do
The student council is a formal way for our students to have a say on almost everything that happens at college. It’s an official organisation to make sure that students just like you are heard and listened to, with the chance for you to have a voice on every issue that will affect you and the college.
At Student Council meetings, you’ll get to discuss all the current goings-on at the college, explain how they might impact students, and put forward you own ideas and suggestions. You’ll play a part in developing new initiatives, recommending changes and identifying things that aren’t working. Ultimately, you’ll be making student life better for everyone!
Why join the Student Council?
If you really want to have a positive impact during your time at The Manchester College, the Student Council is a great place to do it. You’ll be learning all about voting and representation, helping other students and having your ideas and thoughts listened to.
You’ll also get to learn about voting and representation, as well as getting the opportunity to meet other like-minded students. Most importantly, you’ll be developing a fantastic range of skills and experience that future employers will love.
Get Involved
Would you like to be a student representative? Every single one of our students is eligible to run for election, with voting held every year. You’ll get support and training from the student council co-ordinator and support officers, and be able to represent fellow students from your subject area.
To get involved, keep an eye on the student council notice boards, or get in touch with a student council support officer via the reception at your nearest campus.
