Overview
The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Applied Psychology is intended to be an Applied General qualification for post-16 learners wanting to continue their education through applied learning, and who aim to progress to higher education courses.
The course covers the following areas:
• Psychological Approaches and Applications
• Conducting Psychological Research
• Health Psychology Criminal and Forensic Psychology
• Promoting Children’s Psychological Development
• Introduction to Psychopathology
• Applied Sport Psychology
The qualification is the equivalent of 1 A Level and can be combined with other BTEC courses such as Childhood Studies, Health and Social Care, Sport and Public Services.

Entry requirements
To be eligible for this course applicants should possess 5 GCSE’s at grade 4 or above including English and Maths.
If you’re aged 16-18 you will also require a DBS check.

How will I be assessed?
Assessments for this qualification are made up of assessments including written examinations, supervised assessments, coursework and presentations.

Upon successful completion, this qualification is designed to enable progression into further study or careers relating to teaching, educational psychology, sports coaching and leadership, health and social care and community studies.
