If you are just starting out on your journey to a successful career and are eager to learn more about counselling work, the profession, and the skills needed to help others, then this ABC Level 2 Award in Counselling Concepts is the perfect place to begin.

You'll get a practical introduction to what counselling training entails, following a person-centred approach to the discipline. Together we'll look at a variety of therapeutic models of counselling, before focusing on ethical frameworks and how to help relationships.

Throughout the course, you'll develop a host of communication skills and learn how to reflect on your own personal development. As you gain important insight into the industry, you'll be able to decide where you'd like to focus your future development and how to train towards your ideal career.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, if you have been receiving counselling or rehabilitation, you must be six months clear from recovery.

During this Counselling Concepts Award, you'll be assessed in a number of different ways, including group work, presentations and case studies.

When you have completed this Level 2 award, the ideal next step in your career path is to advance onto the Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills, right here with us at The Manchester College.

You'll be able to develop your abilities further and train towards a range of counselling-focused job opportunities in the health, care and wellbeing sector. You could be self-employed or working within counselling agencies, or be responsible for group work or telephone counselling. This is just the first step towards a diverse future career.
