Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety

The Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety gives learners the opportunity to question the development and function of health and safety law, discover how to build trade union organisation for health and safety and tackle some of the health, safety, welfare and environmental problems that workers currently face.

The course will help you:

• Question the development and function of health and safety law
• Discover how to build trade union organisation for health and safety
• Tackle some of the health, safety, welfare and environmental problems that workers currently face.

Union safety representatives who wish to take this course should have one of the following:

• Previously attended the TUC Stage 1 and 2 Health and Safety courses
• Obtained a suitable equivalent to the two courses above through their own union's courses or from elsewhere.

Please ensure that you have time off to attend this course and that you have informed the appropriate union branch official or officer of your intention to take the course.

Throughout the course you will be continuously assessed by the course tutor through classroom and workplace-based activities.

Completing this course enables you to progress to further TUC training courses.

If you are a member of a TUC-affiliated union, then Trade Union Education courses are funded by the Adult Skills Fund.

Please be aware that funding restrictions in some areas may mean that we cannot accept your application: if this is the case, you will be notified which college to reapply to.
