Shena Simon Campus
(Part Time Non Released - 1 year)
We are offering FREE English and maths lessons to young people aged 14-16 (Year 10 and 11) who are declared as Elected Home Educated pupils with their local authority.
These courses can be studied at our Shena Simon campus and via remote learning and lead to a nationally recognised qualification.
If you choose to study both English and Maths you will study all day on Thursday's. If you are studying one of English or Maths you will study for half a day.
Plus, if you enrol on one of these course we'll also offer you access to free online learning materials.
Applicants to this course must be declared as Elected Home Educated pupils with the local authority and must complete a BKSB screening assessment for initial assessment.
All students not enrolled on a continuing English and / or maths qualification will be signposted to BKSB to complete an initial assessment.
Further diagnostic assessments will be to be completed at the start of course with formative assessments used throughout the course to assess progress and a final end of course summative assessment required to achieve the nationally recognised qualification.
Upon successful completion of this qualification, learners on a Functional Skills English and/or maths qualification can progress to study at GCSE level.
If you turn 16 before 31 August then you will be able to progress onto one of our wide range of 16-18 technical and vocational programmes with the option to continue your English and maths where appropriate.
