Openshaw Campus
(Full Time - 2 years)
Equivalent to three A-Levels, this T Level is a 2-year course and has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares you for work. You'll spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% on a minimum 45-day placement with an employer to give you the skills and knowledge companies look for.
Your course starts with the essential knowledge and skills to work in health or science including how the industry works, core scientific concepts and key regulations including managing information, health and safety and good scientific/clinical practice. You will specialise in supporting healthcare and you will focus on the care of supporting adult nursing.
Specialist knowledge and skills that will be covered on this course include assisting with clinical tasks and treatment of service users, providing care and support to service users before, during and after clinical or therapeutic procedures and taking a physiological reading of service users and recording data.
Every T Level will include an industry placement with an employer focused on developing your practical and technical skills, required for your future occupation. These will last a minimum of 315 hours (approximately 45 days) but can last longer. Employers can offer industry placements as a block, day release or a mix of these, and can discuss sharing part of the placement with another employer if necessary.
Learners are required to have achieved 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or higher including English, maths and science.
Work Experience is a vital part of the course and you will be supported in finding a work placement relevant to your study.
When you have completed your T Level qualification, you will receive an overall grade of Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*.
Throughout your studies, you will complete several assessments including exams, coursework and synoptic assessments and a reviewed industry-led employer project.
In addition to this, maths, English and general digital skills will be integrated within the qualification in occupationally relevant contexts.
Upon successful completion of this qualification, learners can apply to a university of your choice.
Your T Level will be worth UCAS points – a T Level Distinction* is worth the same as 3 A-Levels at A* – and will be recognised by universities and other education providers so you can choose to continue studying if you wish. Learners can progress on to degree-level study with our higher education partner, UCEN Manchester. Students progressing from The Manchester College will receive a cash award through the Achievers Scholarship.
UCAS points will only be allocated to your overall T Level grade. You must achieve at least an overall pass grade to receive UCAS points.
