Our Level 3 T Level in Science in partnership with the University of Manchester is part of our Industry Excellence Academy for Science and has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that meets the needs of industry and prepares you for your future career.
During this two-year qualification – which is equivalent to three A Levels - you'll spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% of your time on a 45-day industry placement with an employer who help you develop the skills and knowledge you'll need in the industry.
You'll start by developing a general understanding of science, studying core science concepts including the structure of cells, tissues and large molecules, genetics, microbiology and immunology. You'll learn more about the working in the science sector including health, safety and environmental regulations, managing information and data, and principles of good scientific practice.
You'll then further your knowledge of science by studying areas like cell cycle and cellular respiration, enzyme and protein structure, pathogens, classification of biological materials, kinetic changes and relevant analytical techniques as well as learning more about scientific methodology, experimental equipment and techniques and the ethics of science.
Those successful in gaining a place on the T Level will be eligible for the ‘T Award', a package of benefits that includes:
• £300 per year bursary*
• Curriculum based incentives
• Free branded work wear
• Opportunity to take part in exciting college-wide competitions

Work Experience is a vital part of the course and you will be supported in finding a work placement relevant to your study.
Over the course of your studies you will complete a number of assessments including exams, coursework, synoptic assessments and a work placement with industry led employer project.
In addition to this, your maths, English and general digital skills will be assessed as an integrated part of qualification in occupationally relevant contexts.
Upon successful completion of this qualification, you'll have the opportunity to progress on to university if you wish, with T Levels being worth UCAS points and recognised by university and education providers. For example, a T Level Distinction would be worth the same as 3 A Levels at A*.
