UCU Yorkshire & Humber Reps 1 - Autumn Term

This classroom-based course is aimed at new reps, caseworkers and activists who will be undertaking this role in the near future.

Existing reps who have not attended training before are also encouraged to attend. You should complete this course prior to applying for the Rep 2 course.

Throughout the course, we will explore key themes including how to organise around equality issues, deepen your understanding of UCU's democratic structures, and clarify your rights and responsibilities as a rep.

You will develop core skills in member communication, recruitment and organising. Emphasis will be placed on building collective responses.

You are required to be a representative of the University and College Union (UCU).

You also need to ensure that you have time off to attend this course and that you have informed the appropriate union branch official or officer of your intention to take the course.

Throughout the course you will be continuously assessed by the course tutor through classroom and workplace-based activities.

Completing this course enables you to progress to UCU Reps Stage 2.

If you are a member of a TUC-affiliated union, then Trade Union Education courses are funded by the Adult Skills Fund.
