St John's Campus

St John's Centre

St John's Centre will close during the summer of 2022.

Why is St John's Centre closing?

We are currently investing £140m to upgrade our facilities and to build our brand new City Campus Manchester, just across the road from the Manchester Arena which will open in September 2022.

This investment will provide generations of students with access to state-of-the-art, industry-standard facilities that will mirror the world of work, providing the perfect setting to help prepare them for a future career and in locations that are easy to get to by public transport.

To deliver these new purpose-built facilities, we are rationalising our campus estate and releasing some of our old sites.

What does this mean for my studies?

Courses will be based at one of our six campuses across the city, with the location depending on the subject you will study. These changes give you the best opportunity to make the most of our new facilities and group all our specialist technical courses together in brand new facilities.

Information on where every course will be delivered can be found on the relevant course page when you apply.

Please note that we have written to all existing students and new applicants to inform them of where their courses will be relocated to and to outline the support we will be providing to them as they make the transition.

If you have any questions about the location of your course or want advice on what this means for you, please contact 03333 222 444.

St John’s Centre is in Spinningfields, a modern business and entertainment district built around a green space. Spinningfields hosts some of Manchester’s most innovative events including an outdoor cinema in summer and ice rink in winter.

Historic Deansgate is a short walk from the campus. It’s a haven for shoppers and crammed with coffee shops and delis. A few minutes’ walk along Deansgate is the John Rylands Library, a beautiful Victorian gothic library holding events and exhibitions. The People's History Museum and Museum of Science and Industry are also close by.
