The Manchester College will proudly host the latest UAL Awarding Body symposium later this week.
The ‘Foundation in Art & Design Symposium, Challenging Conventions & Building Philosophy’ will take place at City Campus Manchester on Friday 27 February.
The event will focus on the Level 3 and 4 qualifications, bringing together UAL Chief Examiners and experts from a range of institutions to explore widening access to a creative education, ensuring inclusivity for a diverse range of students.
Maria Foran, The Manchester College’s Assistant Principal for Creative Industries, said: “It has long been our ambition to host a national UAL event here in Manchester and we’re delighted to offer a warm, Mancunian welcome to around 150 delegates.
“The Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design is a much-beloved qualification within our Visual Arts adult courses offer. This symposium will help the FAD community tackle evolving student needs and explore fresh approaches to modernise the course.”
The symposium will feature a programme of talks, workshops, breakout rooms and networking opportunities, all designed to reinvigorate approaches to creative teaching and widen access to arts education.
Themes include:
- Innovative delivery models that support purposeful, inclusive teaching
- Sustainability and ecological thinking in creative practice
- Iterative creative problem-solving as a tool for resilience and innovation
