Students receive GM Skills certificates

Success for The Manchester College students at GMColleges Skills competition

Students from across The Manchester College have been busy representing their course and the College in the recent GMColleges Skills Competition. They helped the College achieve twelve podium finishes and several commendations.

Each of the Greater Manchester colleges in the event hosted a different competition over two weeks, with the College’s City Campus Manchester site welcoming Visual Arts students from across the region.

Everyone who took part in the showcase of technical skills spoke positively about their experiences of the competition. One of those was Grace Taylor, a Level 3 Media Make-Up student from the College’s Harpurhey Campus, who came in first place in the Media Make-Up competition.

Grace said: “I enjoyed competing. It was nice to be able to showcase my work and I’m now looking forward to competing in the WorldSkills UK event.”

Cathy Broderick, Assistant Principal for Employability, Partnerships and Skills at the College, added: “The GMColleges Skills Competition is a fantastic opportunity for our students to put their knowledge and skills into practice, competing alongside talented learners from across the region. It was inspiring to see their hard work and dedication pay off, with so many showcasing their talents and receiving well-earned recognition.

"The competitions not only build confidence but also prepare students for future success in their chosen industries. We’re incredibly proud of everyone who took part and, as staff, we can’t wait to see how they continue to develop their skills.”
