The Manchester College are number 1 in Greater Manchester for achievement

The Manchester College rated number one in GM

The Manchester College has been rated the number one Further Education (FE) college in Greater Manchester (GM) in a number of key areas, including achievement, in the newly published Government National Achievement Rates Tables (NARTs).

The NARTs position the College as number one for overall achievement rates, with a pass rate of 94 per cent, placing us in the top ten per cent of all 180 colleges in the UK; and in the top five highest performing colleges nationwide.

Lisa O’Loughlin, the Principal, said:

We are thrilled to be ranked the number one FE college for achievement in Greater Manchester. It is brilliant for the College, our current students and our future generations of students, and is something everyone who works here can be incredibly proud of.

The Manchester College also has the third highest overall achievement rate for English and Maths Basic Skills qualifications in the country, with a pass rate of 93 per cent, placing them in the top two per cent of FE Colleges in the UK for Functional English and Maths qualifications.

These top ratings come just weeks after the College was rated ‘Good’ across the board in its latest Ofsted inspection, which recognised students as benefiting from ‘effective work-related learning and high-quality work experience activities’.

Lisa continued: “The work we are doing at the College to improve quality and educational attainment forms a key part of Manchester City Council’s skills strategy.

“It also firmly aligns with Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s collective vision across skills and education, linking with the 16-18 transport strategy, and closing the long-term educational attainment gaps to improve employment outcomes.”
