The Manchester College has achieved WorldSkills UK Centre of Excellence status recognising its outstanding commitment to developing technical skills that prepare students for a future a career.
The achievement demonstrates the College’s dedication to developing high quality technical skills, engaging its community in skills competitions, and celebrating technical excellence across its programmes.
Membership of the WorldSkills UK Centre of Excellence provides access to world-class teacher training, a vibrant community of practice, and opportunities to share innovation and thought leadership. It also gives students the chance to take part in prestigious national and international competitions such as WorldSkills and SkillBuild, where they can showcase their talent, gain valuable experience, and build confidence in their chosen careers.
Rachel Curry, Principal of The Manchester College, commented: “We are incredibly proud to be recognised as a WorldSkills UK Centre of Excellence. The achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to nurturing technical skills excellence and providing wider experience to build their confidence and resilience. This provides our students with opportunities to develop skills that will open doors to the many rewarding careers that exist in Greater Manchester and beyond.
Through this partnership we will continue to embed industry-led, internationally benchmarked training across our curriculum — ensuring that every student develops the skills and aspiration needed to have a successful career.
The WorldSkills UK Centre of Excellence supports colleges and training providers across the country to raise standards in technical education and training. By embedding international best practice and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, the initiative helps shape a truly world-class skills system for the future.
Curry continued: “Being part of this national network allows us to work alongside leading educators, share best practice and ensure our teaching remains aligned with the emerging skills needs of employers and the Greater Manchester labour market.
“With our Centre of Excellence status, we will be able to further build our relationships with employers and industry partners to co-develop and co-deliver our curriculums so that, ultimately, we can deliver on our mission to equip students with cutting edge technical skills that will lead to a future career.”
