Students go behind the curtain of stage show Cilla the Musical

Our students of the past and present got the unique opportunity to watch a dress rehearsal of hit new stage show Cilla the Musical, thanks to one of our tutor’s industry links.

A group of 50, comprising returning students, graduates and freshers who had yet to enroll, watched the show at Liverpool Empire Theatre. They also got the chance to meet legendary producer and Everton FC chairman Bill Kenwright.

Bill was the one who identified The Arden tutor Paul Broughton as the perfect person to play the iconic Scouse starlet Cilla White’s father, John, in the show’s initial Liverpool run.

Jessica Baskind, Year 2 Acting student, said: “Seeing my teacher Paul on stage was awe-inspiring. Knowing that I have teachers that are in the industry makes me want to learn from them even more.

“Getting a behind-the-scenes look made me realise how much work goes into a production and I'll never forget this experience.”
