The Manchester College’s Music department to be included in UKMusic’s Music Academic Partnership
The Music department at The Manchester College has been successful in its application to be included in UKMusic’s Music Academic Partnership (MAP).
MAP is a ground-breaking collaboration between educational institutions and the membership of UK Music. The organisation has a focus on linking industry and academia, allowing it to more effectively:
- nurture collaborative projects such as research and career events; inform and engage with the next generation of industry professionals
- develop expert knowledge-base to feed into education and skills policy work
- provide individuals who want to build careers out of their passion for music with extra opportunities
This partnership gives our College access to a network of academic and industry professionals across the music industry that will feed into giving both our staff and students unique and higher-level experiences.
Lucy Oldham, Head of Music at The Manchester College, said: “We are delighted to be joining UKMusic's Music Academic Partnership which links industry and academia. This unique opportunity will provide our students with cutting-edge collaborative projects, industry links, mentors and networks as well as the opportunity to influence and impact policy development.”
This has been a busy time for the department, they recently announced the renowned Elesha Paul Moses as its patron, further enhancing the connection between the college and the wider music and performance industry.
