Super students from The Manchester College make the grade this Results Day.
Name: Aleeza Altaf
Course: Level 2 Creative Digital Media Production and Design
Result: D
Next step: Returning for her final year
“The past year has been great because everybody is really helpful and I found it easy to settle in. I would say that’s the best thing about the College, how friendly all the tutors and staff are.
“The course has been very interesting and I’m looking forward to my second year. After that, I hope to progress to university to study Media but I’m still keeping my career options open at this point.
“I would recommend The Manchester College to others because every day there is a nice, welcoming atmosphere around campus.”
Name: Timothy Smith
Course: Level 2 Auto Electrical
Result: Pass
Next step: Establish his own business
“Of the courses that I looked at and was interested in, it was only The Manchester College that covered Auto Electrical and I enjoyed my time there. I met some new friends who I’m still in touch with and I got on really well with the tutors. The best thing for me personally was the course itself, as I love learning new things.
“I would definitely recommend the College to others for its facilities, the staff and the way the course was delivered. I hadn’t been in a learning environment for quite a few years so the first week was strange, but the way the course was delivered made it all so easy to take everything in.”
Name: Megan Roberts
Course: Maths GCSE plus Level 3 Music Production
Result: GCSE - Grade 5; Diploma - Pass
Next step: To work in the world of performing arts
“I started later in the academic year but the tutors were really supportive and put a lot of effort making sure I was up to speed. I found the way that my maths tutor, Jacqueline Chrystie-Lowe, taught us was a lot easier to understand than in secondary school and I’ve gained a lot more confidence because of it.
“I’m happy to have a pass and it’s a relief to get a subject that is really important.”
Name: San Karim
Course: GCSE English plus L2 Diploma in Vehicle Fitting Principles sponsored by Moffatts
Result: GCSE - Grade 5; Diploma - Pass
Next step: Returning for his final year
“I’m really enjoying it. I’ve always loved cars and I learn better in person rather than being online all the time, so I’ve enjoyed coming onto campus and working with the facilities.
“It’s a really friendly environment and the tutors are really helpful. The facilities at Openshaw campus are really good so I’d recommend the College to anyone thinking of applying.”
