Hard working Huzaifa heads to uni

After gaining a triple distinction, Huzaifa will study Cyber Security at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Huzaifa Parveen has shown that hard work and determination truly pays off after securing a place at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Huzaifa moved to England in 2016 with his family, having previously lived in La Rioja, Spain, for eight years. Although he had passed exams equivalent to Level 2, he was told he’d have to start all over and gain UK qualifications to be able to apply for higher level courses.

Huzaifa joined The Manchester College and worked his way up from Entry Level and Level 1 at Shena Simon Campus to Level 3 Digital Transformation in Partnership with Lloyds Banking Group at Openshaw Campus, part of the College’s Industry Excellence Academy for Computing and Digital.

His hard work has finally paid off as the 21-year-old gained D*D*D* and has secured a conditional offer to study a degree in Cyber Security.

Huzaifa said: “My aim is to finish university and then gain industry experience in a small company before moving to larger organisations.

My time at The Manchester College has been really good, I enjoyed it and my tutors really helped me.

"It’s a great place to attend if you are starting from scratch like I did.”

Tutor Najma Hussain said: “Huzaifa came to the UK in December 2016 from Spain and has worked extremely hard. He has worked his way up the levels by gaining his GCSE English and maths and perfected his English reading and writing skills.

“I am extremely proud that he has now completed his Level 3 and successfully gained a position at university. His sheer dedication has paid off and I wish him all the best.”
