Megan likes the sound of a career in music
With a place at university now secured, Megan aims to become a music producer.
Music student Megan Balcomb describes her time at The Manchester College as “ten out of ten” and her tutors are equally as effusive about her!
The 18-year-old achieved a Distinction in her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Performance and is now going on to study a degree in Popular Music and Recording at the University of Salford.
She’s hoping to carry on where she left off in College as she pursues a career as a session musician or music producer.
“My initial experience from the College taster days was great,” Megan recalled. “I felt like it was the right fit for me, and I was right. The experience has been ten out of ten.
I give all the praise to my classmates, tutors and the support staff for helping get to where I am now. Everyone on the course was so driven and we were all doing something that we love.
Those who met Megan during her time at The Manchester College have no doubt she will go on to achieve great things. Sharon Jones, Megan’s Achievement Tutor, said: “Megan is the first sibling in her family to go to university. She has shown true engagement, commitment and dedication to her course throughout her time at college. Megan is a great role model for her peer group, goes the extra yard with her studies and has been an amazing student in tutorial.
“Megan is determined to do well in the music industry and has shown real resilience with all challenges she has faced. I am very proud of Megan’s academic achievements and I have no doubts that she will do exceptionally well at university.”
Megan recommends The Manchester College to any aspiring musicians, with the industry partnership with Band on the Wall proving especially important.
“My favourite thing about studying at The Manchester College has been the experience of playing around Manchester,” she said. “The course has been really good for developing my skills as a musician. I’ve found that I’ve been able to come out of my shell and feel comfortable.”
