This qualification is designed to stimulate interest and encourage the learners' understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to care for young children.

For 16-18 courses unless the course is a T Level or Foundation Year this isn't required
- Students will need a minimum of Entry 3 English OR be able to demonstrate writing ability at this level at an interview.

Assessment for this qualification will be undertaken through a variety of written assignments.

On the successful completion of this Level 1 Diploma, students can access Level 2 Early Years Practitioner or Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualifications leading to employment in schools or nurseries.
