If you are interested in Science and Engineering this qualification is the perfect start to your journey. Pre-Access is the ideal course for you if you have either been out of education for a while, and/or need to attain English and maths qualifications required to progress to an Access to HE course or employment.
The course will introduce you to key subjects including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, including Cells, Physiology of the Body, Forces, and Chemical Reactions, enabling you to identify which area you'd like to focus on in more detail for your further education and future career. You'll also be developing the knowledge, skills, and behaviours you'll need for further study in a subject you're passionate about.
If you do not have the relevant English & maths qualifications to progress on your journey to Access to HE and university, you will study English and/or maths qualifications alongside. The level of English and maths you are enrolled on will be dependent on your prior qualifications (see entry requirements) and completion of an initial assessment.
You will need a minimum Functional Skills level 2 in English and maths or GCSE Grade D/3 in both. If you have obtained qualifications in English and maths overseas, these must be submitted via ENIC to determine their equivalence. However, if English was studied as a second language, this is not usually comparable to English Language in this country.
You may be invited to discuss learning routes to your future career.
You'll complete a range of assignments such as class discussions, presentations, short and long answer questions, workbooks, and research projects.
