The Manchester College partners with Community Revival to offer students hands-on work experience
More than 200 students on Business, Computing, and Digital courses at The Manchester College have now gained essential administrative, interpersonal, strategic and technical skills thanks to the College’s flourishing partnership with Chorlton based Community Revival.
The organisation, which offers a range of courses, skills workshops and consultancy services to training companies internationally, is dedicated to empowering individuals by supporting them to achieve their personal and professional goals, a commitment that will see them support a further 60 students from the College during the 2024/25 academic year.
Through these placements, Computing and Digital students take on roles in IT Support, where they manage website updates, troubleshoot issues, create digital content, and oversee social media activities.
Salman Chaudhari, who is studying towards a T Level in Digital Business Services at the College described his experience with Community Revival during his Foundation Year placement as “thrilling and eventful”.
Salman was responsible for undertaking research and presenting his data and conclusions to supervising staff, something which made him step outside his comfort zone and built his confidence, which he believes will stand him in good stead on his current course.
Business students also benefit greatly from the partnership, working as Business Administrators where they assist with policy reviews, recruitment support, and annual report preparation, while contributing to community engagement initiatives. This exposure helps them build administration, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement skills that will serve them well in their careers.
Lucy Brett, Employability and Partnerships Coordinator at The Manchester College, emphasises the value of this collaboration: “We are proud to partner with Community Revival and share their commitment to empowering students and positively impacting the community.
Together, we are shaping a future workforce that is not only skilled and knowledgeable but also socially conscious and community oriented.
Shabaz Ahmed, who is the Head of Centre at Community Revival, added: “We want to help embed the right skills so that students can progress into employment or the next stage of their career.”
The partnership demonstrates the College’s commitment to fostering student growth beyond academics. By blending classroom learning with real-world experience, students gain not only technical skills but also a sense of responsibility and a commitment to making a positive impact on their communities.
