The Students’ Union (SU) are on the lookout to recruit multiple Officers to assist its President, Sam Lowe, in big plans during his second, and final, year in office.

Positions include: Vice President, Finance Officer, Secretary, Welfare Officer, Activities Officer, Communications Officer, Equality and Community Officer, Employability and Enterprise Officer and additional Campus Officers.

An SU Officer engages with students on the ground and plays an integral role in providing feedback that contribute to the changes and developments made within the SU.

The role comes with a raft of additional benefits including:

  • Social media training
  • Bespoke mentoring
  • Invaluable work experience and employability skills
  • Flexible hours allowing you to manage that student/personal life balance
  • Professional industry experience attending and representing the union at conferences and events.

Candidate registration for applicants opened on Monday 1 April and closes on Friday 3 May.

To apply, write a manifesto, no longer than an A4 page long, stating why you are applying for the role of SU Officer; what your views are on issues affecting students and the National Union of Students (NUS), and what you would contribute if you were elected?

The manifestos will then be published and your fellow students will begin voting soon.

Sam Lowe is enthusiastic about recruiting the Officers and said: “If you’re passionate about something, pursue it. Not just for sense of achievement and the memories to look back on, but extra-curricular activity is so advantageous when writing your CV, having ways to stand out during interviews and enhancing your overall employability skills.”

Applications can be sent directly to SU@ucenmcr.tmc.ac.uk along with your name, student ID, course name and relevant contact email address.
