The Manchester College Student, Ryan Mulvey

TMC star lands major role on Hollyoaks

Performing Arts student Ryan Mulvey has secured his first major professional role while studying for a BTEC Extended Diploma in Performing Arts.

TMC Performing Arts student Ryan Mulvey has landed his first professional role after being cast in long-running Channel 4 soap, Hollyoaks.

Ryan set his sights on securing the role earlier this year when a successful audition led to him being recalled for a screen test.

After impressing in the final stage of the casting process, Ryan received a call the very next day to let him know he had been cast as JJ Osborne.

Ryan, who started filming on the soap in mid-October, commented: "I'm buzzing to join the cast of the Osbourne family.

"I have The Manchester College to thank for helping me take my first steps into the industry. I loved studying at the College. The teachers and other students were brilliant, and I enjoyed taking part in activities that prepared me for a career in TV, film and theatre."

Louise Ince, Ryan's Achievement Tutor at The Manchester College, commented: "Ryan is a naturally gifted student and a lovely person.

"During his time at The Manchester College, Ryan has shown exceptional commitment to his course. His work ethic is outstanding, and the cast and crew of Hollyoaks are lucky to have Ryan on board!

"He is humble and level-headed and didn't let the process get to him,” Louise continued, “When he called me to say the casting director had asked for a screen test, I knew he had got it!

"We're all so proud of Ryan and I'm pleased to see his career beginning to flourish!"
