The Manchester School of Building
(Full Time - 1 year)
This qualification will provide students with an understanding of the principles of organising, planning and pricing construction work. This includes how to repair and maintain masonry structures, constructing radial and battered brickwork, constructing fireplaces and chimneys, and carrying out decorative and reinforced brickwork. Students will learn how to work in a safe, professional manner to an accepted code of practice, and how to follow the relevant health and safety regulations.
Whilst there are no formal entry requirements for this qualification., applicants are advised to first successfully complete the Level 1 and Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying in order to ensure they have the right skills and understanding for this qualification. Alternatively, the applicant should be able to provide evidence of significant industry experience.
How will I be assessed?
Assessments for this qualification are made up of a variety of exams and practical tests.
Continuing Your Journey
Upon successful completion of this qualification students will possess a variety of skills to enable them to build, repair and maintain the country’s housing stock. Students can use this qualification to progress on to becoming skilled in their chosen trade, or to progress through an apprenticeship, and work towards becoming a master craftsman.Careers page
