Construction Digital Information Management provides an overview of how digital technologies, information and data are transforming the construction industry. As the sector continues to adopt more efficient, collaborative, sustainable and digitally enabled ways of working, the ability to manage and use accurate project information effectively has become increasingly important.
The course will explore the principles of Building Information Modelling (BIM), digital information management and the use of data throughout the planning, design, construction and operation of built assets. Students will develop an understanding of how digital information can improve collaboration, coordination, project efficiency, cost management and decision-making across the construction lifecycle.
A blended approach will combine theoretical learning with practical activities using Autodesk Revit. Students will gain practical experience of creating and managing digital building information, developing construction models and producing coordinated drawings and project information aligned with modern industry workflows.
The course will also consider the continued development of the construction industry, including the growing importance of digitalisation, data-driven decision-making, BIM and new technologies. Students will develop the digital knowledge and practical skills required to respond to changing industry practices and support their progression into professional roles within the modern construction sector.
Applicants who do not meet the standard entry criteria but have previous learning towards a degree-level qualification or relevant industry or life experience will be considered on an individual basis and may be invited to interview.
