Hair and Media Make-Up

Our Level 2 Hair and Media Make-up qualification has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in both hairdressing and beauty therapy, enabling you to perform your own services as well as assist others.

You will study the creative art of applying photographic make-up and the ability to create a hair and beauty image based on a theme.

Additional optional units also cover colouring hair using temporary colour, the art of dressing hair, body art, shaping and colouring eyebrows, and plaiting and twisting.

You will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety practice in a salon environment. There will also be the opportunity to take part in internal and external competitions and work placements in the industry, along with opportunities to develop further skills in our world of work week.

4 GCSE's of grade 3 or higher including English or Math's and/or a prior achievement of a Level 1 Beauty Therapy or Hairdressing qualification along with a subject specific interview.

The study programme provides an opportunity for you to develop a variety of practical, theoretical and employability skills. Within this qualification you are required to complete a minimum of twenty four hours of work experience

You will be assessed through observation of technical skills, written assignments, and online exams.

Upon successful completion of this qualification you will be able to progress to Level 3 Theatrical and Media Make-up, Level 2 Hairdessing, Level 2 Beauty.

You can progress to a careers including freelance or employed media makeup artist, makeup assistant or working within a retail setting.

You will need to purchase a hair and make-up kit and a uniform.
