Hair Skills

The VTCT Level 1 Diploma in Hair Skills is designed to help you progress to the next level of vocational learning. This qualification equips you with fundamental hairdressing skills, preparing you for further study in the industry.

As part of the course, you will complete a mandatory unit to create a hair and beauty image using colour.

In addition, you can enhance your skills by selecting from optional units, including:

- Blow-drying hair
- Winding skills
- Shampooing and conditioning hair
- Plaiting hair
- Colouring hair using temporary colour

You will also develop your knowledge of hair and beauty products, health and safety, and customer service, ensuring you gain a well-rounded foundation in the industry.

You will be assessed through observation of practical performance, oral and written questions.

You will be able to progress onto a Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing.

Learners are able to apply for a bursary that will support with the purchase of kits and unform.
