For anyone that's new to music technology and wants to know what it's all about, this introduction to the industry will help you get a really good grounding in professional music production.

With a hands-on focus, you'll explore all the basics of studio recording, including how to use microphones effectively and how to record and mix a track. You will create your own beats using industry standard software such as Logic and Ableton and learn the basics of DJ technology.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course but applicants must have an interest in music technology and production.

During this course, you'll learn how to record music, mix a multi-track recording, and use a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) to create and remix music. You will also be assessed on your ability to set up and operate DJ equipment. There are no exams, all assessments are practical.

Once you've completed this course, the ideal next step would be to develop your skills further with a Level 2 Certificate in Music Technology. From then you can move onto a Level 3 Diploma in Music Technology. You can do all of this right here at The Manchester College.

These courses will give you all the knowledge and skills you need to succeed in the music industry, and from there, you'll be able to jump straight into work as a recording or sound engineer, or even an artist manager or promoter.
