Legal Foundations - September start

If you're considering a future in the legal profession or simply want to gain a deeper understanding of how the law shapes our society, this course provides the ideal starting point. You'll explore a wide range of legal topics while building the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed for further study or entry-level employment in the legal sector.

You'll study a range of core and specialist units, including:

Investigating a Career in Law (mandatory)
English Law
Law of Tort
Contract Law
Employment Law
Foundations of Criminal Law
Homicide
Human Rights
Police Powers

Although no formal qualifications are required, all learners will be initially assessed for English and interviewed to identify past achievements and experiences. A full Level 1 English achievement or comparative is desirable.

At enrolment, your English skills will be assessed, and you'll have the opportunity to discuss your reasons for choosing this qualification.

To achieve the full award, you'll need to successfully complete nine modules within one academic year. Alternatively, you can work towards a smaller award by completing just the first three modules.

All modules are assessed through coursework-based assignments.

It may be possible to progress to the Level 4 Conveyancing/Probate in Law and Practice qualification after assessment of your Level 2 assignments; however, a mandatory requirement is the possession of a full Level 2 English qualification (or equivalent).
