Legal Foundations

The Award in Legal Foundations requires study of three units:
- Investigating a Career in Law (mandatory unit)
- English Law
- Law of Tort
The Extended Certificate in Legal Foundations requires study of the above three units plus six additional units:
- Contract Law
- Employment Law
- Foundations of Criminal Law
- Homicide
- Human Rights
- Police Powers
You will be taught the foundations of the British Legal System and relevant reviewing case studies to be able to link theory to practice; ideal learning for anybody looking to gain access to a legal sector career, starting or running their own business. or to gather very useful information to assist with personal legal matters.

Although no formal qualifications are required, all learners will be initially assessed for English and interviewed to identify past achievements and experiences. A full level 1 English achievement or comparative is desirable.

Initially your English skills will be assessed and your reasons for wanting to study this qualification at enrolment.
You will complete the award by successfully achieving 3 modules, and a further 6 modules for the Extended Certificate within one academic year. All modules will be assessed through assignments. You choose whether you would like to progress to the Extended Certificate.

It may be possible to progress to the Level 4 Conveyancing in Law and Practice qualification after assessment of your Level 2 assignments; however, a mandatory requirement is the possession of a full Level 2 English qualification (or equivalent).
