Are you passionate about fitness, health, and the science behind human performance? Our Personal Training and Sport Science course is a rigorous and advanced qualification designed to prepare you for a successful career in the health and fitness industry or progression to higher education.
This unique programme at The Manchester College provides:

Upon successful completion of the course, you will achieve:
• Active IQ Tech Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training, Health, Fitness, and Performance
• NCFE Level 3 Introductory Certificate in Sport & Exercise Science
• First Aid at Work Certification
These qualifications are not only valued by employers but also carry UCAS points to support your progression to university.
Throughout the course, you will explore:
• Exercise instruction and programme design.
• Human anatomy, exercise physiology, and nutrition.
• Advanced training techniques and health screening methods.
• Behavioural psychology related to fitness and motivation.
• Business and enterprise skills for a career in personal training.
You'll also develop the expertise to:
• Plan and instruct safe, effective physical activity sessions.
• Conduct health and fitness assessments to create tailored programmes.
A key part of the programme involves gaining hands-on experience, with dedicated opportunities to build your industry skills, including:
• A bespoke work experience programme with PureGym in your second year, culminating in job interviews and potential employment offers.
• Weekly one-to-one personal training sessions delivered through collaborations with ManFit and the college's Routes
Applicants must possess 5 GCSE's at Grade 4 or above, including Maths and English. A DBS check may also be required for entry onto this course.
This course includes completion of a portfolio, practical observations, course work related assessments and reports.
Upon successful completion of your course, you will become a fully qualified Personal Trainer and able to work directly in the fitness industry with direct job interview opportunities with Pure Gym and Your Personal Training UK.
You will also have developed academic skills and have gained UCAS points to support progression to higher education should you choose to do so.
Through our partnership with UCEN Manchester you can progress onto a Higher Education course at our School of Sport, Health and Wellbeing.
