The course will enable learners to become qualified Personal Trainers whilst developing an academic understanding of Sport & Exercise Science. The programme offer combines two courses, the Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training Health, Fitness and Performance & the NCFE L3 Introductory Certificate in Sport & Exercise Science. These offer complementary curriculums that provide a recognised path to employment with an industry leading awarding body and UCAS points to support progression to higher education.

Learners will develop their understanding of anatomy, physiology, human biology, psychology, nutrition, programme design, client consultations, enterprise skills and how they relate to exercise and fitness.

Learners will be able to recognise the impact lifestyle has on health and the role exercise can play to improve health, they will learn how to plan and instruct safe and effective physical activity and exercise sessions using recognised exercise guidelines and be able to conduct a range of health and fitness related assessments that inform programme design.

They will learn how to interpret data and make judgements against health-related criteria. They will also develop skills to support their personal and professional development whilst developing business and enterprise skills and be able to recognise how technology is used within physical activity, fitness, sport and exercise.

Learners must be able to communicate effectively and conduct themselves in a professional manner throughout the course.

Completion of the course requires real world experience working alongside Personal Trainers and a number of hours work experience is involved. The course will provide learners with educational visits to see a number of professional facilities and to learn from local business people how to create a successful fitness business.

Applicants must possess 5 GCSE's at Grade 4 or above, including Maths and English. A DBS check may also be required for entry onto this course.

This course includes multiple choice exams, practical observations and course work related assessments such as report writing and presentations.

Upon completion of your course you will become a fully qualified Personal Trainer and able to work directly in the fitness industry. You will also have developed academic skills and have gained UCAS points to support progression to higher education should you choose to do so.
