Fashion, Theatre and Media Make-up Studies

Our Level 3 Theatrical, Special Effects and Hair and Media Make-up qualification is designed to develop your skills as a professional make-up artist working with performers to a high level, enabling you to provide hair and make-up services in the media, theatre, performing arts, fashion and photographic industries.

This Diploma has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills to an advanced level through a variety of techniques.

During this qualification you'll study a range of units including media, special effects and camouflage make-up, applying ready-made small prosthetic pieces and bald caps, monitoring and maintaining health and safety, client care and communication, styling and fitting a postiche and how to apply the complex skill of airbrush make-up.

Work Experience is a vital part of the course and you will be supported in finding a work placement relevant to your study.

You will be assessed through observation of practical performance, written assignments and online exams.

Once you complete your course, you will be able to progress into the industry working in film, theatre, TV or as a freelance makeup artist. If you wish to go on to further study, UCEN Manchester's School of Art Media and Make-up offer a range of courses at degree-level.

There may be some additional equipment costs, you'll be required to purchase a kit and a Uniform, (you'll receive approximate costs at interview) and you'll be required to wear a uniform costing approximately £42 and black shoes enclosed toe with no heel.
