Overview
Designed for those who are looking to advance their skills and abilities in carpentry and joinery, this Level 3 City & Guilds Diploma is ideal for anyone who has completed a Level 2 course and wants to take their knowledge and experience even further.
You’ll focus on a number of core areas, including how to effectively carry out first fix flooring and roofing, as well as second fixing operations. For another part of the course, you’ll explore second fixing double doors and mouldings and also learn how to use fixed and transportable machinery.
As you develop those essential skills required for a successful career in the industry, you’ll be able to improve your functional skills in English and maths too on this widely recognised diploma. -
Entry requirements
You should ideally have previously completed a Level 2 qualification in Carpentry & Joinery to enrol on this course, but we will take into account your previous experience too. You’ll be invited to take an initial assessment in English and maths and an interview with us, before we offer you a place on the course.

How will I be assessed?
Throughout this course, you’ll complete a range of practical, hands-on assessments in the workshop to build up your individual portfolio. You’ll also take some exams covering health and safety, the principles of building and questions relating to the trade area.

Continuing Your Journey
Once you have successfully completed this Level 3 Diploma in Site Carpentry, you’ll be able to advance onto further NVQs in the area or widen your skills with a higher-level course such as an HNC in Construction and the Built Environment here at The Manchester College.
