(Full Time - 1 year)
This qualification will help you explore the music industry and develop your own skills as a musician. You will work on developing as an individual performer on your chosen instrument or voice as well as learning key skills for working as part of a band. Alongside practical work, you will also explore music theory and learn how to create original music using a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW).
You will take part in a range of live performances at various locations including the iconic Manchester venue, Band on the Wall with which the department have an educational partnership.

Work Experience is a vital part of the course and you will be supported in finding a work placement relevant to your study.
How will I be assessed?
Assessments for this qualification are a mix of theory and performance based. You will be assessed on your contribution within rehearsals as well as on your performance at gigs and events. You will also undertake written assignments on music theory and the music industry.
Continuing Your Journey
Upon successful completion of this qualification students will be able to progress onto a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music at The Manchester College. Experience gained throughout the qualification will also help you to progress to Higher Education or gain successful employment as a musician, promotor, music events manager, music producer or teacher.Careers page
