Want to develop your performing skills and learn more about the subject you are passionate about? Then this course is for you. During this one year course you will study a variety of skills and techniques. You will be able to choose from either Acting, Musical Theatre or Dance. You will be introduced to different aspects of the business and will work from both choreographed material and create your own pieces. You will discover what it takes to work as a theatre company and explore both on and off stage job roles.
Projects you will work on may include:
- Technique development and research
- Pantomime/variety Show
Applicants will require a minimum of two GCSE’s at grade D/3 or above as well as an positive Record of Achievement/Progress file.
They will need to take part in a practical audition and interview, in order to assess your practical skills.
Applicants should also possess an aptitude for performance and the ability to use voice and body in performance to the public.
How will I be assessed?
Assessments for this qualification will be made up of both theoretical, written coursework tasks and also practical performances or demonstrations of your practical skills. Some units will be externally assessed.
Continuing Your Journey
Upon successful completion of this qualification students could progress on to Level 3 Performing Arts qualifications at The Manchester College.Careers page
Previous students have successfully gone on to professional work within the acting industry in television, theatre, theatre in education, physical theatre and comedy.
Other potential careers paths include directing (TV and theatre), scriptwriting, drama therapy, teaching, setting up and running your own theatre company, and events management.
