For anyone looking to develop their creative, artistic and professional acting skills further, this BTEC Extended Diploma at Level 3 is an ideal course to deepen your knowledge and push your practical performance abilities to the best they can be.
You’ll learn all about a variety of performance skills and styles, focusing on those that are current and relevant to the industry. This could cover everything from Contemporary Performance and Acting for TV & Film, to the techniques taught by influential practitioners like Strasberg and Brecht.
You will also take a closer look at playwrights or a key time in history that had an impact upon the development of performing arts. All the movement, vocal, and theoretical skills you learn are geared towards preparing you for drama school, a higher level degree or a professional audition.

Work Experience is a vital part of the course and you will be supported in finding a work placement relevant to your study.
How will I be assessed?
You’ll take part in a combination of practical performances and workshop assignments for this course, alongside some written coursework tasks, which could include historical research or theory and a log of your acting progress.
Continuing Your Journey
With this Level 3 qualification, you’ll have a number of relevant skills to start a career in the performing arts industry, or continue onto to another course at The Manchester College and develop your knowledge and abilities even further.Careers page
You could enrol on an HNC course in Acting, or advance onto a BA (Hons) degree in Acting for Live and Recorded Media at The Arden School of Theatre. Alternatively, you could explore a whole range of careers related to acting and performing arts, and may soon find yourself working in TV or film, writing scripts or teaching drama to other students.
