And as British Overseas Territory citizens, our students can access college education in England. “Bermuda is 21 miles long and everyone knows everyone. Visits like this to The Manchester College give our students the chance to see that the world is a lot bigger than just Bermuda. It’s great that The Manchester College have designed this tour and workshops, so we get to see the different departments and facilities that are available.

The Manchester College and UCEN Manchester engage students with hate crime awareness campaign

“The funding we received from HEFCE and Manchester City Council also played a key part in enabling us to facilitate these activities over a sustained period of time.” Manchester Gorton MP Afzal Khan visited College students in February to deliver a session alongside youth trainer Ray Douglas. The session covered personal identity in relation to being a young black and minority ethnic (BME) person living in Manchester.

Cream of Manchester exhibits the next generation of Mancunian artists

In addition, six alumni from The Manchester College were given a live brief from the Manchester Art Gallery to take a fresh look at the Gallery’s vast collection and assess the collection's relevance in the 21st century.  The project, named ‘Taking Stock’ explored new interpretations of artworks from the Rutherston Loan Collection by creating new art based on our alumni's personal responses and fresh perspectives.
