Enrichment Activities
Enrichment Activities
From vibrant clubs and societies to themed event weeks, The Manchester College is buzzing with activities all year round.
Across every campus, you’ll discover a variety of things to try: hands-on workshops, one-off events, community projects and so much more. Not only will you have fun and meet new people, but you’ll also pick up valuable skills and create memories to be proud of. Ready to dive in? Here’s a taste of where to start…
Sports & Recreation
We’re passionate about fitness and wellbeing, which is why you’ll find lots of different sporting sessions across our campuses, covering everything from badminton to volleyball, dance to boxing, and aerobics to basketball. Being in Greater Manchester, football is a big focus too, with plenty of competitions and events to get involved with.
From introductory activities to advanced sessions, there’s something for everyone. We’ve even got two special sports programmes: our Talented Athlete Support Programme (TASP) is ideal for those striving for their full potential in a sport, and our Enhancing Student Employability Programme (ESEP) gives you the chance to volunteer with sports activities and even earn some great qualifications!
Themed Events
Throughout the year, you’ll see the college taken over every few weeks by a new theme, cause or awareness event. We want to help you understand and talk about a range of different issues, so we arrange lots of different activities to tie in with special themes.
Some of these include:
- Mental Health Awareness - promoting mental wellbeing and reducing stigma around mental health issues.
- Green week - encouraging sustainable practices and environmental responsibility.
- Celebrating Cultures at our annual Culture Day.
Clubs & Societies
At each of our campuses, we have a whole host of clubs and societies for you to get involved with, whether you’re new to the hobby or already a passionate fan.
You could get involved with our Debate Club, Book Club, LGBTQ+ Club, Diversity Club, Arts & Crafts Club, SEND Social Clubs…and so much more! And if there isn’t a society for your passion, why not create your own? Just speak to the Enrichment Coordinator on your campus and they’ll support you to make it happen.
Guest Speakers & Workshops
Hearing about the experiences of others and how they’ve overcome challenges is a great way to ignite a fire in yourself, and so throughout the year we invite a number of guest speakers to share their stories and inspire students like you.
We also run lots of workshops throughout the year, giving you the chance to develop extra skills and knowledge. Recent examples include workshops on deaf awareness, first aid, British Sign Language, enterprise workshops and managing finances.
Volunteering & Work Experience
Through close partnerships with Manchester Council and the Volunteer Inspire Programme, our community projects offer you the chance to make a real difference across the city.
You can join local litter-picks, assist at an animal shelter, help revitalise green spaces, and much more - each opportunity designed to give you hands-on experience and build skills employers value, from teamwork to leadership.
Whether you’re passionate about environmental care, animal welfare, or community wellbeing, our volunteering programmes allow you to put your talents into action and leave a lasting impact. Speak to your Enrichment Coordinator today to get involved!
