Our Technical Certificate in Animal Care offers an engaging programme to support you into a career in an animal-related industry.
You'll study a range of mandatory units including how to maintain animal health and welfare, animal behaviour and handling, working in the animal care industry and health and safety for the land-based industries.
You'll also have the opportunity to study units around animal breeds and grooming, he principles of animal biology and care of exotic animals.

You will be assessed through various methods, including a synoptic practical assessment, an end-of-unit knowledge assessment, work experience, and internal assessments. These internal assessments are set and marked by teachers and are conducted within a defined window, allowing you to demonstrate your understanding by completing a vocational task.
Upon successful completion of this qualification, you will be able to progress onto our Level 3 Animal Care qualification and then progress into direct employment in the animal care section including roles in an animal welfare centre, pet shop, kennel or cattery, rescue centre or in a zoo.
