This qualification will help you develop a strong foundation of skills needed to progress onto the role of a chef. This course will help students understand the key skills and terminology to work in the hospitality and catering industry. This will include a range of modules including food safety, health and safety awareness, prepare, cook food by stewing, braising, poaching, steaming, deep frying, shallow frying, baking, roasting and grilling.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however the applicant should have a passion for cooking and the enthusiasm to develop their skills and knowledge.

Students will be assessed throughout the course through practical assessments and written tests to evidence their skills and knowledge.

Upon successful completion of this course students can progress onto a Level 2 Culinary Skills qualification to develop their skills even further. Students can use these qualifications to work towards becoming skilled in their ideal job in the hospitality and catering industry. Job roles in this sector include chef, cook, kitchen and catering assistants.
