Understanding the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices

If you are already a qualified experienced assessor and are not currently carrying out quality assurance – but this is something you would like to do – then this Level 4 Award is the ideal qualification to help you understand the entire process of internal quality assurance.

It's a knowledge-only qualification, so you won't need to be working in an environment where you have access to assessors who are monitoring and overseeing learners. You'll focus on a single core unit that will cover all the principles and practices you'll need to know about to internally assure the quality of assessment.

You'll be able to work towards the qualification within your own organisation and on your own time. There's a flexible study approach to the award, with regular meetings with your assessor and a full library of learning support materials and an electronic portfolio, available whenever you need it.

To enrol on this course, you'll need to already be working as a qualified and experienced assessor. You should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and will also need to complete an eligibility checklist to ensure you're suitable for the course. We may invite you for an interview before offering you a place.

For this Level 4 Award in Understanding The Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice, you'll be assessed yourself using questions in the form of a workbook and by taking part in a professional discussion with your assessor.

When you have completed this course, you'll have the level of knowledge needed for internal quality assurance. You may wish to go on to work for a training centre or college in the role of IQA, and could complete the Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices.
