The Manchester College Wide
(Short Course - 12 weeks)
Designed for anyone who has ever considered a career as a teacher, this Level 3 Award in Education and Training (formerly known as PTLLS) is the ideal first step towards working in the Lifelong Learning sector. It's specifically aimed at those who have little or no experience in the teaching or training sector, so is the perfect place to begin.
You'll gain valuable insight into the teaching roles and responsibilities in education and training, alongside ways to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment. Looking at the different types and methods of assessment used in the sector, you'll focus on planning, delivering and evaluating inclusive learning.
Under the guidance of an experienced team of teachers, you will have the opportunity to reflect on your role as a new teacher or trainer, evaluate relationships in the industry, meet other new teachers and practise your skills with your group.
You should ideally have a subject in mind that you'd like to teach, preferably with a Level 3 qualification in that area, although this is not essential.
We ask all candidates to take a short written assessment as part of the recruitment process for this course.
Assessment is carried out through two written assignments. You will also plan, deliver and evaluate a 30 minute micro teaching session to your peers as part of your final assessment.
"With this introduction to the education industry, you'll be able to advance onto further teaching training at The Manchester College, with a Certificate in Education or PGCE in Lifelong Learning.
This will set you on a promising path towards a rewarding career in the teaching industry. Alternatively, you'll find that this award can help you advance within your current career, taking on additional training roles and responsibilities.
Learners can progress on to degree-level study with our higher education partner, UCEN Manchester. Students progressing from The Manchester College will receive a cash award through the Achievers Scholarship.
